And today I get to the great part in my book where Janet Frame is in exactly the same part of the world as I am (Andorra to London). I can’t help but share in her longing of home but feel eternally grateful to be on this side of the globe singing my truth along-side some top notch humans. Knowing that this place of newness must be where all the good stuff happens. (An artist must be uncomfortable, an artist must tour the world, an artist mustn’t stay in her home-town for too long). Hi World. I’m really excited about touring you over the next few months. Like, so excited I could cry. X
been listening to a lot of War on Drugs today, a revisit of such, has been the best soundtrack to a roller coaster of a weekend, after playing our biggest show to date at St. Stephen’s Church in Sydney last night, and despite un-impressing a Sydney Morning Herald writer (sound issues aside); we plough on nonetheless, and keep learning eh? Strikes something in me though - and I’ll be clear about my full understanding of one’s opinion, freedom of speech etc - but how unsettling, how easy it is, today, to vomit one’s dislike or distaste for something onto the internet, knowing full well the artist eventually hears or reads, makes me wonder, no surprise artists end up losing their shit after relentless amounts of it. Maybe I’m one for calling a spade a spade, but also, liking what you like and leaving what you don’t, alone. Hmm. And here’s me at the airport, all-sentimental, holding back tears for Bowie, and the glimpse of the sweetest baby, reminding me what is important; I’ll make art for myself, for healing, processing, and as soon as I become every-one’s cup of tea; someone throw the towel in for me! Kapeesh? X!

spent the best part of yesterday with a very talented woman who took my photograph. after ages of pining over her work. our timing aligned. a sense of relief to have documented this certain point in life! i love the fact that 2014-15 contained greatness, and turbulence, side by side, year’s full of the greatest lessons. the horizon of this new year brings more of all of that. good things. movement wise; our show at Sydney Festival happens 9/10th Jan (first time Sydney-side), then a writing trip in KL, and home turf brings Laneway Festival 1st Feb. hope this isn’t too intense/soppy. main message is: happy new year. x

It is with great excitement that I will be heading out on tour in March 2016 with Anthonie Tonnon, whom I will always affectionately refer to as “Tono”, and fellow Australian (!), Darren Hanlon, who hangs with Miss Courtney Barnett, and writes bloody good songs. Thank goodness they asked me to join them, otherwise… sausage-fest alert!
